Actor Role Bio
Alex   Santoriello Judas Iscariot Alex Santoriello is a professional actor, singer & producer best known for originating roles in three Broadway musicals: Les Miserables, Chess & Three Penny Opera; & as a producer on the Broadway musical,  A Tale of Two Cities.  He made his equity debut at the Paper Mill Playhouse & his New York debut at AMAS Repertory Theater. He played Gus the Theater Cat in a Broadway tour of Cats & Pontius Pilate in two major touring productions of Jesus Christ Superstar.  Alex produced & directed the world premiere of A Tale of Two Cities in concert at the Circle Theater in Indianapolis that included a cast of Broadway veterans along with Richard Kiley who narrated the action, a fifty-voice choir & a forty-piece orchestra.  Alex appeared in the TV soap opera All My Children & in the Academy Award nominated film Far From Heaven.  A successful concert career brought Alex to Barbados. After several returns Alex moved there & taught singing to young people & served as the first musical director of the Barbados National Boys Choir. He fronted the popular rock ‘n roll band “GetBak” & performed at over one-hundred charity events including the reopening of the historic Kensington Oval in Bridgetown & the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Gala. He founded Lexy Piano Bar, which was rated by Zagat as one of Barbados’ top five night spots.  Alex is a licensed commercial pilot, an active flight instructor & an avid sailor who has logged thousands of miles at sea.  Alex performed and worked with Sirs Sting, Cliff Richard, Tim Rice, Cameron Macintosh & Trevor Nunn; Benny Anderson & Bjorn Ulveaus (ABBA); John Caird, John Dexter, Andrew Wilk, John Lodge, Dennis Quaid, David Cassidy, Richard Kiley, Michael Crawford, Maureen McGovern, Georgia Brown, Ted Neeley, Carl Anderson, Colm Wilkinson, Claude Michel Schoenberg, Alain Boublil, John Clifton, Neil Berg & his sister Jill Santoriello.  Most recently Alex appeared in The Villages starring as Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.
Gary DeLena Jesus Christ Gary DeLena has had successful careers as an actor, singer/ musician and comedian.  Beginning with the Mason Gross School of the Arts and the George Street Playhouse, Mr. DeLena portrayed Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest and Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In national touring companies he has played Moonface in Anything Goes, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Bobby in Company and Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady. Off-Broadway he has originated roles in Indian Summer and Bride of Frankenstein.  His latest project, Funny Business, a musical about stand-up comedy, debuted at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and is targeted for Broadway in the coming year. Gary’s rock and roll career had taken him on global tours, sharing the bill with acts like Heart, Chicago, Huey Lewis and the News, Dave Matthews and Alice in Chains. Currently touring the world as a musical comedian, Gary was discovered by Rodney Dangerfield and Jackie Mason in New York City in the mid-1980’s. He has performed with Ray Romano, Kevin James, Adam Sandler, Sam Kinnison, Jerry Seinfeld and many more. His television and film credits include appearances in National Lampoon’s Movie Madness on HBO, The World According to Jim on ABC, and comedy specials on Showtime, Comedy Central, as well as all the late night talk shows. He has also sailed the world with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Crystal, Disney and Norwegian Cruise Lines. He is extremely happy to be performing alongside Alex Santoriello for the third time as Jesus and Judas.
Dawn DiNome Wetzel Mary Magdalene April 10th Originally from NY, where she studied Musical Theatre, Dawn is an accomplished Actor, Singer, and Dancer. She has performed in various theatrical productions both nationally and internationally. Some of her prior roles include: Dulcinea in Man of La Mancha, Reno in Anything Goes, Polly in Crazy For You, and Charity in Sweet Charity. She is currently living in Central Florida where she is the Musical Director at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood. She sings for most of the masses every weekend, and directs the choir. She performs for many local venues throughout The Villages. She also performs periodically as a guest singer with her dad’s 50’s & 60’s Rock and Roll band Flashback. 
Mary Jo Vitale Mary Magdalene April 11th Mary Jo Vitale is no stranger to the folks here in the Villages. She has been performing in and around the area for nearly 10 years and has taken part in numerous charity events and variety shows in addition to her many solo performances. She is affectionately known as “The Sweetheart of the Villages”. Mary Jo and her husband Marc (Pastor of Hope Lutheran Church in the Villages) have been married for 13 years and have two beautiful children. She expresses beauty and feeling in her vocal interpretations as well as tremendous musical versatility and limitless positive energy. The Villages is thrilled to call this amazing performer one of their own. Mary Jo is very proud to be playing the role of Mary Magdalene in this wonderful production of Jesus Christ Superstar!
Sue Schuler Mary Magdalene April 12th Sue is originally from Detroit, and is no stranger to the stage.  She has performed for over 40 years in both amateur and professional theatre. She started singing professionally at the age of 18.  Sue is also an accomplished choreographer with many theatre credits to her name.  She will be choreographer for Sweet Charity in spring of 2018.  Sue is a dance instructor here in The Villages with two dance groups:  Dance Fusion and Dance Synergy.  Sue is also an accomplished director, and has directed White Christmas, Cabaret and Les Miserables since moving to The Villages.  Roles that she has portrayed on the Savannah stage are Miss Jones in How to Succeed in Business, Cassie in Chorus Line, Laurie in Oklahoma, Betty Haynes in White Christmas, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Fantine in Les Miserables, Marta in Company, and Polly in Crazy for You.  Sue has also been seen in many variety shows since moving here, including her Dueling Divas series, Divas vs. Divos series, and her Songs for the Soul series coming up in May.
Kathleen Kane Mary Magdalene April 13th Born in Philadelphia, PA, Kathleen Kane is known internationally as an artist. Her impressive and captivating talent along with an incredible passion for her audience exudes through her voice with a vocal range of Contralto, to Mezzo Soprano, which allows her to sing her genres of music including pop, contemporary, jazz, and Broadway. This vivacious entertainer has stunned and delighted countless audiences of all ages including performances at Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and many other tourist attractions. One of her favorite places to perform is The Villages. Before moving to Florida, Kathleen began her career on the stages of off Broadway, on both the East and West coasts. This music is where her heart still lies. Kathleen Kane always embraces the journey and she knows the roads ahead are endless.  Most recently she appeared as Miss Adelade in Guys and Dolls.
Tim Casey Pontius Pilate Tim grew up in the theater playing his first role in Teahouse of the August Moon at the tender age of 11.  “Up North” Tim performed the leads in Deathtrap, A Thurber Carnival and Dracula and appeared in a number of musicals including Guys and Dolls, Peter Pan, and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.  Recently in The Villages he has appeared  in  Les MiserablesCompany as the Padre in Man of La Mancha and Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls.
Alex Scopino Caiaphas
Alex has sung nearly every basso role in the operatic repertoire. Originally from Pleasantville NY Alex holds a masters of vocal performance from Binghamton university. As an opera singer he has sung with Opera Colorado, Opera Coeur d’alene, Caramoor opera, Tri Cities Opera, Rimrock Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Opera in the Heights just to name a few.  Now living in Lady Lake, with his wife and two fur babies Oliver and Bailey, he is an award winning realtor that can be seen frequently on the Savannah stage including his performance as Javert in KC Productions Les Miserables.   Alex is excited to reprise the role of Caiophas that he originally sang 20 years ago with Saw Mill Summer Theatre in Chappaqua NY.
Jim Kitzler  Peter Jim has been in over 50 productions in Ohio and this is his third in the Villages, having been in Les Mis and Man of La Mancha. Some of his favorite shows are Guys and Dolls and Titanic the Musical. Jim also plays Softball and Baseball as well as golf and is an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church
Gary Chubeck King Herod Gary has been in The Villages for the past six years. He enjoys the active lifestyle and has reawakened his desire in the theater, and is most grateful to his wife Sheilah for supporting him in this captivating hobby. Gary is returning for his second show with our company and is also active performing with Villages Musical Theater, Questar Productions, Starlight Players, and Showcase of Talent, just to name a few.
Vince Morris Simon Zealotes Vince’s first exposure to theatre was the lead (as Peter Pan) in a community production in Poughkeepsie, NY, at the age of 12. He has performed in the college drama guild (Julia B. Duncan Players) in college. During his 35 year career with Aetna, was part of the cast in Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Camelot. Also has performed with the Hartford Chorale and for 28 years with the Alfred E. White Chorale in Hartford, CT. Moved to The Villages in 2007 and has been a frequent soloist with Brothers In Song for the since 2008. Vince also was part of the cast for the Broadway Bound Players production of Motown Magic in The Villages in November 2013.  Most recently Vince appeared as a Cuban dancer in Guys and Dolls.
Susan Bartlett Annas Susan arrived in The Villages in 2013 and promptly joined in the fun. She plays clarinet, flute and tuba in The Villages Orchestra, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Flute Fanatics, Celebration Brass Band and the Leading Ladies Quintet. Until now, she could be found in the pit during musicals, but recently decided to try being onstage. After her first role as Hedy Larue in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, she was hooked. She looks forward to many more opportunities in musical theater.
Dave Newell Priest 1, John Dave is a retired pharmacist from Peoria, IL. He and his wife Kathy have been part time residents of The Villages for the past 4 years and recently made Florida their home. Dave has sung with his church choir back in Illinois for the past 20 years, and for the past 14 years has been a member of the Morton Civic Chorus. Morton Civic Chorus performs “Encore,” a 2 hour choral show the week before Memorial Day, on the behalf of the Central Illinois Memorial Kidney Fund. The chorus has raised over 1.5 million dollars on behalf of kidney dialysis patients throughout Central Illinois. Dave sings locally with the Brothers in Song, Community United Methodist Church choir and The Villages Christian Chorus. Dave loves music of all kinds but especially vocal and instrumental jazz. Dave enjoys cycling, golf, reading and cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs.
Mike Hassett Priest 2 Mike and his wife Carol retired last year, and moved from Pennsylvania to The Villages this past January.   Mike performed in a variety of roles in Hello Dolly, Annie and Jesus Christ Superstar in the late 1990s at the Greensburg Theatre in Pennsylvania.  Most recently Mike appeared as Brandy Bottle Bates and the Waiter and Society Max in Guys and Dolls,
Paul Young Priest 3 Paul has been very active singer in a variety of venues, but had not performed in theater prior to comping to The Villages and  appearing in KC Productions Les Miserables as Feuilly and Crazy for You as Moose.  He is also involved locally with Bach with a Beat and the Pops Chorus. Paul also enjoys participating in a variety of sports here in the villages including basketball, pickleball, softball and platform tennis.
Laurie Scheben Temptress Laurie has lived in The Villages for over 6 years. She is originally from New York state. She works full time, yet tries to squeeze in as many Villages stage productions as she can. Laurie has performed with KC Productions in Cabaret, Les Miserables, and has choreographed Man of La Mancha, Guys and Dolls and now most recently Jesus Christ Superstar. She also performs with Questar Productions, Songs For The Soul, Dueling Divas, The Celebrants, SMASH Productions, Dance Fusion and with her own Dance Synergy. Laurie wants to thank Joan Knapton for making her dream come true by bringing Jesus Christ Superstar to The Villages Savannah Stage!
Jo Gagne Temptress
Jo taught algebra until she moved to the Villages from Pittsburgh in 2003, where she realized her dreams of dancing and singing.  She began performing with Theatrical Variations In Dance,  and became one of the original members of the popular Music In Motion dance group. She  performed with  other musical companies, including Questar and Broadway Bound Players, in many shows.  Jo has been in the cast of nine Villages Musical Theater Company musicals, including the role of Gladys in The Pajama Game  and  Tessie Taura the Stripper in Gypsy, as well as A Chorus Line and 42nd Street with KC Productions.  Jo sings with the Villages Pops Chorus, and two quartets—Girls Night Out and The Hi-Lites.  Jo is grateful to Alex, Joan, and Laurie for giving her the opportunity to perform in Jesus Christ Superstar with such talented and dynamic performers,  and to her husband Dale for supporting her endeavors.
Sara Kallioinen Soul Singer 1 Sara Kallioinen has generally been behind the scenes as a rehearsal pianist or with a live orchestra in such shows as Chicago, White Christmas, and A Chorus Line.  She made her stage debut as ‘Kit Kat’ girl, “Lulu” in Cabaret, and has appeared in Les Miserables and Guys and Dolls.   She has danced in numerous shows, now with ‘Dance Synergy’ and plays keyboard for Dawn DiNome & the Flashback band.
Beverly Wehrheim Soul Singer 2 After retiring from a career in contract management, Bev moved from Pennsylvania to The Villages in 2003. She immediately got involved in many activities new to her and discovered a love for being on stage. She has performed with several resident groups, including Music in Motion, The Villages Philharmonic Chorale, and the Pops Chorus. Roles in other Villages productions have been Annie Oakley U/S in Annie Get Your Gun (2009), Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy (2010), and Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel (2013). After taking a break to enjoy world travel with her husband Larry, she is happy to back on the stage again.
Bobbi Steele-Marotta Soul Singer 3  Maid by Fire Bobbi brings over 50 years of experience in acting in Community Theater Musical Comedies from MA, MI, NH and the last 5 years right here in the Villages.  Bobbi has starred in major leading roles such asDolly – Hello Dolly, Adelaide – Guys and Dolls, Nellie – South Pacific, Annie –Annie get your Gun, Marian – Music Man, Tuptim – King & I.  Other Musical Comedy’s Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, CamelotForum, Carousel, Music Man and Brigadoon.  Bobbi is the Co-founder of ‘Arts-In-Motion’ Community Theater Group in North Conway, NH and was instrumental in the formation of their Children’s Summer Theater Camp Program.  She is currently a member of 5 performing Arts Groups in the Villages.  Bobbi says she is loving every minute of the fun she is having with her “Theater Family/Friends” she has had the honor of making over the last 5 years.  The most rewarding part of all the time and experience is knowing that the performances are fund raisers for other non-profit organizations in need that will benefit from the productions.
Robert Petrucelli Apostle, Soldier Bob has, previously, performed with: Broadway Bound Players, B & B Productions, M&M Productions, Lake Miona Theater, Shaka Crew Dance Company and the Villages Theater Company.  He appeared as Pedro in Man of La Mancha and most recently as Big Jule in Guys and Dolls.  He is a board member of the VTC and has performed in many of their productions, the Shows To GO traveling Comedy show, as well as coordinating and performing in the Traveling Holiday Show, Mistletoe To Go.
Tom Heim Apostle Tom is originally from the Harrisburg, PA area. He and his wife, Gloria, moved to The Villages about a year and a half ago. Guys and Dolls will be Tom’s first performance in The Villages. The acting/singing bug hit Tom later in his life. About 8 years ago, he started performing in Christmas and Easter dramas at his mega church in Camp Hill , PA. He acted, sang, and danced in all of these dramas for 7 years.   Most recently Tom appeared as a crapshooter in  Guys and Dolls. He sings in the choir at New Covenant U M Church in The Villages and he loves all sports.
Howard Kirschenbaum Apostle Howard moved to The Villages eleven years ago with his wife Sue. He was last seen as Jose in Man of La Mancha at the Savannah center. Some of his previous roles include Babet in Les Miserable, Indian Jones in Indiana Jones and the Search for the Temple of Shalom at Temple Shalom, as Alf Scrag in Little Abner at Parker Playhouse, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., The Scare Crow in a Halloween show in Weston, Fl.
Vic Marsich James Vic was born and raised on the upper west side of New York City. Introduced to the NY theater scene by a single mom on the fringes of the business, he got the bug early. Vic attended The Cathedral Choir School of St. John the Devine, The McBurney School, and Columbia University and performed in Glee, Choral, and Drama Clubs in each. Spent two summers working in Shakespeare in the Park productions and “suddenly realized that you needed a real job and actual money when you were grown up”. Spent fourteen years in the US Air Force and twenty-seven with General Electric (both decidedly non-theatrical havens). Moved to Mallory in The Villages in 2006. Vic is currently active with The Villages Pops Chorus, Music In Motion, and The Villages Musical Theater Company. VMTC credits include chorus, ensemble, dance, and minor character parts in Carousel, Brigadoon, Music Man, Crazy for You, and currently Thoroughly Modern Millie. I would like to say how very excited I am to join Alex, Jill, Laurie, and everyone involved in this vibrant and dynamic group of performers. I hope all who watch will enjoy it as much as we enjoy doing it.
Ralph Dowell  Soldier Ralph moved to The Villages and got the acting bug. He has appeared in numerous musical productions with The Off-Broadway Players and also that The Villages Musical Theater Company productions. He’s appeared in “45 seconds from Broadway”, “12 Angry Jurors”, and “Einstein and the Polar Bear”. He also performs with the VTC Shows To Go and Mistletoe To Go. Ralph portrayed the Barber in Man of La Mancha.
Darlene Lansing Apostle’s wife  Darlene hails from St.Louis. MO and she and her husband retired here 3 years ago.  She has the reputation of ‘the energizer bunny’ from her
neighbors and friends. This is her debut performance on stage having previously worked behind the scenes as the hairstylist for 20 plus years for ‘STAGES ST. LOUIS’ a professional theatre group in Kirkwood, Mo.  She appreciates the dedication and talent required for a production. Darlene has dabbled in community theatre, dancing and singing, participated in choir at church, and in general enjoys entertainment of all kinds.  While participating in a workshop for Encore she was invited to join the ensemble for Guys and Dolls. And now with Jesus Christ Superstar .  This is a big THRILL , !!! she is excited to be part of this amazing cast and crew. Darlene sends a huge thank you to Alex and the cast from Guys n Dolls who encouraged her to continue tapping her talents . She would also like to thank her family and friends for encouraging her to pursue her passion for the stage.
Mary Nadeau Apostle’s wife  Mary’s musical career started with the Gilbert and Sullivan shows and performing in community theater.  In college,  She was trained as a classical singer and sang in many operas, operettas, and oratorios.  Mary has also sung with the acappella singers.  She majored in music education and performance and taught for several years and also gives voice lessons.  After I retiring, Mary sang with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and in many small chamber groups.  Jesus Christ Superstar is her first show in The Villages and she is tres excite’ and honored to be part of such a superb company.
